Pharmacodynamics of Tranexamic Acid
Tranexamic acid is a synthetic derivative of the amino acid lysine. It exerts its antifibrinolytic effect through the reversible blockade of lysine binding sites on plasminogen molecules. It inhibits endometrial plasminogen activator and thus prevents fibrinolysis and the breakdown of clot.
Pharmacodynamics of Etamsylate
Increases availability of Hyaluronic acid and thereby maintains capillary resistance.
Inhibits synthesis of prostacycline synthetase and thereby favours platelet aggregation.
Improves availability of platelet factors and enhances platelet function.
Contraindication
1. Hypersensitivity
2. Lysis of existing extra vascular clot may be inhibited in patients receiving Tranexamic acid, and Drug with action of haemostatic should be given with caution to patients on anti-fibrinolytic therapy. The potential for thrombus formation may be increased by estrogen.
Dosage
1-2 Tab. three times in a day, as per doctor's recommendation
